TRAVEL INFORMATION
Puglia, arguably one of Italy’s most charming Southern regions, is known for its pastoral landscape, architecturally intriguing towns, deliciously simple cuisine and glittering expansive coastline.
We’re excited to explore this region together! Below you will find some tips to make your travels easier. If you have any travel or Italy related questions, feel free to email our wedding planners, Cuckie + Vikki.
Flights
When traveling to Ostuni, you have a couple regional airports to chose from.
Brindisi Airport (BDS): 30 mins away
Bari Airport (BRI) 1 hour and 20 mins away
NEOS AIR will start direct flights from JFK to Bari in Summer 2025. They fly out from NYC on Tuesdays and back on Wednesdays. Though the schedule is limited, it's a great option for those who want to spend a little more time in Italy before/after our wedding.
The flights (ATM) run around $1k. That compares to 1-stop flights for about $700.
Getting Around
The best way to see Puglia is by car. Its towns and notable sites are sprinkled throughout its wide open landscape. Traversing this bucolic terrain with its winding roads and olive groves is half the fun.
Rental cars are easily acquired at the airports. We highly recommend Budget. For guests coming from the US, an International Driver’s Permit is required and can easily be obtained with AAA for $20. Car rental companies may not ask you to show it when picking up your car but if you get stopped by the police, you’ll be fined if you do not have one.
For those who prefer not to drive, staying centrally located in the town of Ostuni will be the most convenient. Rideshare apps are not an option in Puglia. Taxis are obtained by calling the local taxi company, preferably in advance.
